On October 10th we had an open morning for the public – a Quire Workshop at Slack Space, Colchester. Slack Space has moved to Piatto Café for these events. We had 8 or 9 members of the public join us and certainly, apart from the pleasure of singing our material in front of the café customers, we had new recruits too.
On November 13th at Peldon Church we had an informal American-styled Pot Luck – euphemistically called At your Convenience! Quire members came and sang and we had a great night.
The ‘Christmas’ concert was back at Lion Walk on December 10th at 7.30pm. The theme was ‘Born in the Night reflecting the plight of Mary and her husband as they were driven from one village to another to escape persecution. Lots more people than usual in the audience – was it the use of social media I wonder? Jane sang and read Mary and I grumbled away at Joseph – and Quire sang whatever was thrown at them. Thanks so much to them. The highlight for many was the spiritual ‘Hold on’ where Quire excelled in the ‘big’ sound they can make in the church. Thrilling!
